Description
The Kehlsteinhaus is a Nazi-constructed building erected atop the summit of the Kehlstein, a rocky outcrop that rises above Obersalzberg near the southeast German town of Berchtesgaden. It was used exclusively by members of the Nazi Party for government and social meetings.
Attention: No pedestrians on the road allowed!
A historical viewpoint high above Berchtesgaden: the Eagle’s Nest on top of Mount Kehlstein (1,834 m/6,017 ft) provides a breathtaking panoramic view. The building was completed in 1938 and in 1960 the Bavarian State entrusted it to a foundation. The Eagle’s Nest is managed by the tourist region of Berchtesgaden-Königssee company and run as a mountain restaurant by private leaseholders.
